The Te Au Rangahau Undergraduate Scholarships are offered to Maori undergraduate students studying in the areas of Accountancy and/or Finance, and to assist toward the completion of undergraduate studies.
Eligibility
These Scholarships are open to Maori students who are enrolled in undergraduate study (in Accountancy and/or Finance) at Massey University, in either a part-time or full-time capacity. They must also have the proven ability to complete their qualification at the end of the current academic year.
Tenure and Value
The Te Au Rangahau Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded for 2011 only. There are ten (10) scholarships, valued at $500 each.
Selection
Consideration will be given to students who:
•Are nominated by kaumatua and/or Te Rau Whakaara Accelerated Academic Advancement Programme at Massey University;
•Provide evidence of satisfactory academic achievement;
•Have proven leadership ability;
•Have participate or been actively involved in interests that benefit Maori groups, the Maori community and/or the general community; and
•Demonstrate a positive and committed attitude for high achievement.
Conditions
As the purpose of this Scholarship is to support students to complete undergraduate studies in Accountancy and/or Finance, it is expected that students will signal to the Selection Committee if they intend to substantively change or discontinue their studies.
Participation in the Academic/Campus community may be requested.
Co-tenure
This Scholarship may be tenable with any other scholarship, bursary or award.
Closing Date
The closing date is 31 October 2011. Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome by mid November.
Selection Committee
Applications will be considered by the Director of Te Au Rangahau and two other Research Associates of Te Au Rangahau.
Concessions
Te Au Rangahau may, at its discretion, relax or modify the application of any of these regulations in any special circumstances or in order to avoid hardship to any applicant for a scholarship or any person in receipt of this Scholarship.
