Offer Description
The Biomedical Engineering department at Erasmus MC is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD candidate to join our team and work on Endoscopic Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) projects. You will be involved in developing and implementing cutting-edge imaging techniques to improve our understanding and treatment of various medical conditions, with a particular focus on cardiology and pulmonology. Your key responsibilities are:
- Conducting research on endoscopic OCT and related fields.
- Designing and implementing experiments to investigate the clinical applications of endoscopic OCT in cardiology and pulmonology.
- Developing optical and mechanical tissue characterization techniques.
- Performing data analysis and interpretation of experimental results.
- Preparing scientific reports and publications.
- Collaborating with clinicians, engineers, and other researchers.
Requirements
Specific Requirements
- You have a PhD or equivalent degree in biomedical engineering, mechnical engineering, physics, or related fields.
- You have strong (experimental) background in (biomedical) optics, imaging and signal processing.
- Hands-on experience in endoscopic OCT or related techniques is an asset.
- You are proficient in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C++.
- You have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- You are self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to work independently as well as in a team.

Benefits
- You will receive a temporary position for 4 years.
- The gross monthly salary is € 2.901,- in the 1st year and increases to € 3.677,- in the 4th year (scale OIO).
- Excellent fringe benefits, such as a 13th month that is already paid out in November and a personal travel budget.
- Pension insurance with ABP. The employer covers approximately 2/3 of the monthly contribution.
