Offer Description
My group is interested in biological signal processing, especially in the context of chemical stimuli in gene regulation and development on the one, and macroscopic stimuli (light, touch) on the other hand. We use tools from statistical physics, information theory and non-linear dynamics to understand the how well a particular system responds to a stimulus, and how this stimulus is processed internally. To do so, we collaborate closely with experimentalists. Multiple projects are available concerning the sensing of molecular signals in gene regulatory contexts, macroscopic signals from environmental stimuli and a better understanding of modern data analysis methods for sequencing methods. If you are interested in details prior to applying, please contact Marianne Bauer.
