Offer Description

In this PhD-position you can immerse yourself in the field of Image-guided therapies. Contribute to the development of advanced medical technology and its clinical applications. Learn about the biological effects of heat and how it can play a role in therapy.

The CARES-project aims to develop personalized MR-guided thermo-chemotherapy for treating breast cancer. Your assignment within the project is to deliver the best MR-thermometry solution for the job. To achieve this, you will implement and test MR-imaging methods as well as the image data processing required to convert the images into MR-based temperature estimates. You will demonstrate that these methods work in phantom setups and in healthy volunteers. You will have the unique opportunity to work on MR-systems of Philips and GE Healthcare. You will learn how to use the real-time images transfer interface between the MR-scanner and the hyperthermia device from industry experts. Finally, you will report your results at international conferences and workshops, as well as in international journal papers.


Requirements
Specific Requirements
  • MSc in (applied) physics, technical medicine, or (bio)medical technology/engineering
  • Hands on. Understands how the components build the system.
  • Proficiency in Matlab, python, or similar, with excellent (image)data processing skills.
  • Teamplayer, thriving in an interdisciplinary environment. with strong communication skills.
  • Curious with strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of MR physics, and signal formation is a pro.

Benefits

The maximum salary for this position (36 - 36 hours) is € 3.677,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses and career opportunities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).
