PhD, postdoc and MS positions available at the BioMedical Center, University of Iceland (# of pos: 3)
We are looking for highly qualified, motivated and hard-working postdocs and graduate students for several fully funded three-year projects at the BioMedical Center, University of Iceland.The students/postdocs will belong to the Graduate Program in Molecular Life Sciences, a joint program between research groups at the University of Iceland and research organizations associated with the University and will therefore belong to a stimulating interdisciplinary educational program in the field of molecular life sciences.
The projects will take place within a vibrant scientific environment within the Biomedical Center at the University of Iceland (http://lifvisindi.hi.is ). The BMC is an official collaboration between research groups working in biomedical molecular life sciences within the University, the University Hospital, Reykjavik University and other research institutions in Iceland. It includes over 70 Principal Investigators and over hundred graduate students and postdocs. The graduate program will take place in Reykjavík, Iceland, which is a safe, beautiful and a fun place to live and work.

The projects will use cutting-edge technologies for understanding the above pathways and will involve working with cell lines, clinical samples, and animal models. More specifically, generation of genetically engineered cell lines, generation of tumor grafts in mice, cell imaging, in vivo imaging, CRISPR mutagenesis and screens, co-culture, single-cell sequencing, cut-and-run mapping of transcription factor binding and chromatin modifications as well as advanced bioinformatics analysis.
Qualification requirements
- Recent PhD (for the post doc position) in genetics, molecular biology, biostatistics or computational biology, biomedical engineering, biochemistry or related fields
- MSc degree (for the doctoral student position) in genetics, molecular biology, biostatistics or computational biology, biomedical engineering, biochemistry or related fields
- BSc degree (for the master's student position) in genetics, molecular biology, biostatistics or computational biology, biomedical engineering, biochemistry or related fields
For all positions:
- Laboratory experience in genetics, cellular and molecular biology or biochemistry
- Experience working with mice is valuable but not required
- Good computer and data analysis skills are essential
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Independence and ability to work in a team
PhD applicants must fulfill the requirements for registration in PhD studies in the School of Health Sciences.
