Offer Description

TRACE (Integration and Harmonization of Logistics Operations; https://trace-horizon.eu/ ; June 2023 - May 2026) is an Innovation Action funded by the European CINEA under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme.  The Dynamic Systems and Simulation Laboratory at the Technical University of Crete (Greece), one of the technical partners for this project, is seeking highly motivated and qualified PhD candidate, starting June 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and industry partners to develop innovative solutions for the integration and optimization of logistics operations. Skills/Qualifications

Required:

  • Diploma/MSc degree in a relevant field such as logistics, transportation, operations research, artificial intelligence, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong academic background and research potential in logistics operations or related areas.
  • Familiarity with quantitative research methods and data analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in logistics research.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills in English.

Desired:

  • Prior research experience or coursework in logistics operations, optimization, or intelligent transportation systems.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their application in the logistics industry.
  • Understanding of sustainability and environmental considerations in logistics operations.
  • Experience in using simulation tools or optimization software.
  • Experience in dissemination of research results in scientific journals and conferences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and contribute to interdisciplinary research efforts.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and ability to meet deadlines.

Additional comments

Duration of contract: 12 months (with an option for extension up to the end of the project).

Occupation: Carrying out research as specified in the Description of the Action (DoA).

Salary: 1800-2000 €/month depending on qualifications. A salary increase of up to 10% per year for the following years will be based on performance.
