The research project investigates magnetic field generation by the dynamo effect. Kinetic energy is converted into magnetic energy in the dynamo effect which is thought to be at the origin of planetary and most stellar magnetic fields. The project intends to find with analytical and numerical methods conditions suitable for magnetic field generation and predictions for the magnitude of the generated fields, both in idealized settings and in laboratory experiments which are currently being prepared by other groups.

Applicants are expected to hold a Master degree in physics or a related discipline, to be motivated to collaborate within our research group, and to be proficient in English. Applicants should be experienced in fluid dynamics or related fields and are expected to be able to work independently.
