At the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences II, Institute of Chemistry, there is a vacancy for a 3-year position of a

Graduate student (PhD) (m-f-d)

in a part-time appointment (50 %). The salary will be in accordance with salary class 13 TV-L, pending classification based on individual qualifications.

Tasks:

  • Core tasks include research on covalent organic frameworks (COF), their preparation and characterization by X-ray diffraction, NMR, FTIR, UV-Vis
  • Solvothermal synthesis of materials and (depending on the applicant profile) organic synthesis
  • Preparation of scientific manuscripts and publications and assistance in the preparation of scientific project proposals
  • Participation in teaching tasks

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master of Science or equivalent degree in chemistry, physics or a comparable subject
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills, ability and desire to work in a team

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of solid-state chemistry or organic synthesis
  • Knowledge in structure elucidation by X-ray diffraction and spectroscopic investigations of solids

Desired:

  • Experience with catalysis, peptides or flow chemistry
