Offer Description

Keywords: Microwave filters and resonators, volumic technologies, multipactor, additive manufacturing satellite …

Subject: The aim is to demonstrate a microwave filter topology for space applications in the X-band and beyond, to overcome the precision shortcomings of additive manufacturing techniques. To achieve this demonstration, a particular filter topology will be proposed, based on oversized coaxial stepped impedance resonators that are out of phase with each other. The solution will be based on degrees of freedom intrinsic to the topology, making it possible to achieve sufficient dimensions to cope with the high dimensional tolerances encountered in additive manufacturing, and to obtain filters offering the best compromise between electrical performance, dimensions and power handling. For space applications, power handling is synonymous with the best possible immunity to the multipactor phenomenon, measured in terms of maximum admissible RF power. Validation will be carried out on examples of filter topologies, based on specifications proposed by a satellite manufacturer, and therefore realistic in application terms. The filters will be manufactured using a laser-melting metal fabrication process, widely used in the aerospace industry, and considered mature from an industrial standpoint.
