Three postdoc positions for projects on cancer metastasis in the Erler Group at BRIC
Our research
In our group, we try to understand how cancer spreads through the body (a process called metastasis) as this is responsible for over 90% of cancer patient deaths. Metastasis is strongly influenced by the tumor microenvironment. We study how cells sense and respond to the tumor microenvironment in such a way as to become more aggressive, with a particular focus on cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. We take a multidisciplinary, integrative approach to perform high quality translational research with collaborative partners world-wide.
Project 1: Pre-clinical testing of novel anti-cancer agents
The aim of the project is to undertake the necessary research to test novel anti-angiogenic agents to bring them forward to the clinic. A wide range of techniques will be employed to undertake the research, with a focus on tumor-endothelial cell interactions. The biology behind the changes observed will be investigated during the project.
Start: Preferably January 1st 2013 or after agreement.
Duration: 3 years
Project 2: Pre-clinical testing of novel anti-cancer agents
The aim of the project is to undertake the necessary research to test novel anti-metastatic agents to bring them forward to the clinic. A wide range of techniques will be employed to undertake the research, with a focus on cell-matrix interactions. The biology behind altered tumour cell behaviour will be investigated during the project.
Start: Preferably November 1st 2012 or after agreement.
Duration: 1 year in the first instance
