Postdoctoral position at the Centre for Ice and Climate - Tracing melt under the Greenland Ice Sheet
A position as Postdoctoral Researcher (from November 2012 to end of December 2014) in ice sheet and radio echo layer-related research is available at the Centre for Ice and Climate, a Danish National Research Foundation Centre of Excellence located at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. The postdoc will be part of the European Research Centre (ERC) Advanced Investigators Project "WATERundertheICE" team, which works to map the water under the Greenland Ice Sheet and to assess the importance of the water for the evolution of the ice sheet.
The researcher will collaborate nationally with the ice sheet modelling group at centre for Ice and Climate and internationally with partners from CReSIS, University of Kansas (https://www.cresis.ku.edu/). The overall goal is to compile the information on melt under the ice from the observed radio echo sounding profiles from CReSIS. These profiles include information gathered over the Greenland ice sheet and from the deep boreholes that run through it.
The applicant should have a PhD degree in geophysics or another relevant field, and have documented extensive experience with detection and interpretation of ice sheet radio echo layers and ice flow modelling.
Terms
Terms of appointment and payment will be according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State). Typical monthly salary corresponds to approx. 33,000 Danish kroner plus full benefits.
Application Procedure
The application must be submitted electronically.
