Postdoc Position at the Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen
Applications for a position as a postdoctoral research fellow (postdoc) at HardTimes, a research project financed by the Danish Council for Independent Research, in the Department of Economics at the University of Copenhagen are hereby called for. The position is financed jointly with Department of Political Science and extends from September 1, 2012, to August 31, 2015.
Qualifications
Postdoctoral positions require qualifications at PhD level in economics or political science with quantitative expertise. Applicants with degrees, or documented interests, in both topics are particularly encouraged to apply.
The postdoctoral position is a fixed-term academic position. Normally, the position will be heavily weighted in favour of research. In addition, a certain amount of teaching may also be required. Other duties may, furthermore, have to be performed to a limited extent. The University determines the exact ration between the various responsibilities. The ratio may vary over time.
Whether the position will contribute to a broadening of pedagogical competencies and, thereby, qualify for appointment as associate professor/senior researcher, is negotiable and will depend on the teaching load.
The prerequisite qualifications are in agreement with the stipulations of the Danish Circular on Job structure for Institutions of Higher Education under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation: http://www.socialsciences.ku.dk/faculty/publications/job_structure2007.pdf/
Job description
The postdoc will be part of the Sapere Aude project HardTimes - Voters and the Economy in Times of Economic Hardship. The project focuses on voter responses to the financial crisis and voter attitudes towards crisis (fiscal) policy, using a mix of survey and administrative register data, in the modern tradition of Political Economics. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the research project but are also encouraged to continue their own line of research.
The postdoc position is financed by a grant from the elite programme "Sapere Aude" established by the Danish Council for Independent Research (see https:/www/en.fi.dk/councils-commissions/the-danish-council-for-independent-research/sapere-aude).
Salary and conditions of employment
Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The annual salary for postdoctoral researchers is within the range DKK 376,000 - 396,000 (EUR 50,000 - 53,000 app.). In addition to the salary paid directly to you, the University will also pay a monthly contribution to your pension fund corresponding to 17.1 % of your salary. Negotiation for additional supplements will be possible. A special tax scheme is offered for up to three years to researchers recruited abroad, see http://ism.ku.dk/taxes
Application
The application must be written in English and include in the following order:
- A full curriculum vitae with a description of the applicant´s research experience and interests.
- A complete and numbered list of publications. The publications enclosed in the application - maximum 5 - that you wish for the assessment committee to consider should be marked with an asterisk (*).
The University welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates regardless of age, gender, race, religion or ethnic background.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences will announce the members of the assessment committee when the deadline for applications has expired. It should be noted that the assessment committee could require supplementary documentation for the assessment. If so, the applicant will be notified.
When the assessment committee has finished its evaluation, each applicant will receive the part of the committee´s assessment that relates to him-/herself.
Further information can be obtained from Professor MSO David Dreyer Lassen (ddl@econ.ku.dk).
