PhD position in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics

One Ph.D. position in theoretical condensed matter physics is available at the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) in Copenhagen, Denmark. 
 
The project will focus on theoretical studies of high-Tc superconducting systems including both cuprates and iron-based superconductors. A major goal is to apply existing techniques and develop new methods to tackle interacting systems and their emerging unconventional superconducting phase.
 
In collaboration with several experimental groups, the project will also contain a more empirical aspect consisting of modeling and understanding existing experimental data. It is expected that the latter aspect will be centered on the role of correlations, disorder and spin fluctuations in cuprates and iron-based superconductors.
 
The project will be funded by a grant for research in unconventional superconductivity. This is the first of several positions funded through this grant and more positions will follow soon.
 
The position will thus be part of a flourishing research environment including collaboration with researchers within the condensed matter group at NBI. Significant collaboration and exchange with other people including W. A. Atkinson, P. J. Hirschfeld, and world-leading experimental STM, neutron and X-ray scattering groups is also expected to take place. The applicant should have a master´s degree in physics, preferable with a strong condensed matter background and should ideally have experience with the theory of superconducting and/or magnetic systems.

Terms of employment
