Analysis of spatial and seasonal variation on CO2 and CH4 fluxes over different terrestrial ecosystems.
The role of greenhouse gas exchange from different managed ecosystems in the Danish terrestrial landscape is the focus for a PhD position at Department of Geography and Geology. As part of the EcoClim project funded by The Danish Council for Strategic Research a 3 year Ph.D scholarship related to the topic of exchange of greenhouse gasses is open for applications.
The aim of the PhD position is to analyze the spatial and seasonal variation of CO2 and CH4 fluxes over different terrestrial ecosystems. Emphasis will be put in scaling and modeling issues of the fluxes measured over agricultural, forested and wetland surface in western Jutland. The aim of the project is to improve modeling capabilities and increase the accuracy of regional GHG budgets for the managed land in Denmark.
Qualifications
The applicants are expected to hold a MSc. degree in natural science. Candidates with a strong background in ecosystem modeling, micro-meteorology or GIS will be preferred. Documented experience in field studies is an advantage. Experience of scientific publications in English is an asset. Drivers licence valid in Nordic countries is required.
Terms of employment
The successful PhD candidate will be offered a full-time PhD position for a period of three years, contingent on a satisfactory performance, with the specific intent that it results in a PhD degree and scientific publications. It is a prerequisite for the appointment as a PhD-fellow, that the person concerned can be registered as a PhD-fellow according to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Executive Order no 18 of 14. The salary depends on seniority, as agreed between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations within the range of 23,000-30,000 DKK/month (approximately 3,100-4,000 Euro/month).
