The Department of Health Science and Technology carries out multidisciplinary research and teaching in the area of health science and technology. The department has more than 200 employees and is responsible for more than 700 students. More than 60 PhD-students are enrolled in the doctoral school affiliated to the department. The department has laboratory facilities for 3-d movement analysis, respiratory and circulatory examinations, sensory and motor functions analysis, clean room facilities, cell growth, molecular biology and brain analysis etc. for more see: http://www.hst.aau.dk
In 2000 AAU established a new five year master program within biomedical engineering, in 2006 within medicine with industrial specialisation, in 2007 within Sports Science, in 2008 within biology and latest in 2010 within medicine. All educations at AAU are based on problem based teaching, both as cases and project organised teaching models.
The PhD fellow will be affiliated to Laboratory for Stem Cell Research. The main objective of the research project is to study of the potential clinical use of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells within the area of wound healing. The methods will include isolation, growth and characterization of the mesenchymal stem cells, as well as development of assays to assess their properties in particular in areas related to angiogenesis. An absolute requirement is experience with adipose-derived stem cells and it would be beneficial if the candidate had relevant laboratory experience with one or more of the following: cell growth, real-time PCR, ELISA, and other basic molecular biological methods.
