2 postdoc positions in non-coding RNAs at BRIC
The group
The Lund group is an international and dynamic research group comprising postdocs, PhD Fellows and Masters Students.
Research in the Lund group currently has several focuses including: function and regulation of microRNAs in disease; long non-coding RNA in cancer; epigenetics and the cell cycle; functional characterization of PRDM family members.
Please read more about the Lund Research Group and BRIC on www.bric.ku.dk
Area of Research
As part of a large collaborative effort, the group recently used a custom designed microarray platform to evaluate the expression level of non-coding RNAs in 5 major cancers and in a series of cancer-related model systems. The successful applicant will mine the dataset to identify non-coding RNA causally linked to cancer. This will likely involve molecular characterization of the transcript, structure-function analyses, and mechanistic studies in relevant model systems and genome-wide evaluations of significance.
Qualifications
We expect you to be a highly motivated and interacting person and possessing the following qualifications:
- A PhD in Life Sciences
- Experience in molecular and cellular biology as well as previous practical experience in a wide range of modern molecular and biochemical techniques. Documented prior experience in non-coding RNA research is an advantage
- Experience in mouse models and/or basic bioinformatics is considered a significant advantage
- Importantly, the candidate must be able to plan and execute the research independently
- Excellent English skills
Place of employment
The employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. BRIC is located in the Biocenter, close to the centre of Copenhagen.
