2 PhD stipends in Green Mobile Communication (8-11088)
8-11088 At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Electronic Systems, 2 PhD stipends in Green Mobile Communication are available within the general study programme Wireless Communication. The stipends are open for appointment from November 15, 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The stipends are related to the research project Green Mobile Clouds. This project is funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research (DFF) and the grant is awarded under the newly launched research career programme Sapere Aude - a talent development programme for the elite. For further information about the project please visit http://www.greenmobileclouds.com/
The PhD projects should carry out research in the field of mobile clouds as future service platform for mobile communication networks. Mobile clouds are networks where mobile devices are connected directly with each other to generate services for each other. In contrast to state of the art approaches, these services do not depend on any network provider and therefore open a new dimension of services. New services are the key enabler for new markets. In order to increase the battery life of the mobile device and to decrease the overall energy spent by the network providers, the mobile clouds are designed to be green, that is, aiming at higher energy and power efficiencies. Beside the theoretical work on green mobile clouds, implementations will give valuable feedback on the theoretical work as well as help break ground towards real products in order to create a significant social-economical impact for Denmark.
Qualifications:
Experience in one or multiple fields and please provide evidence for each field:
mobile communication protocol design
knowledge in network coding
cooperative and cognitive strategies for communication systems
experience in simulating communication networks
programming mobile devices (Symbian/iOs/J2Me/Linux kernel programming)
C/C++ knowledge
Teaching
You may obtain further information from Professor Frank H.P. Fitzek, ff@es.aau.dk concerning the scientific aspects of the stipend.
