Professor. Qian Wu at School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, UESTC, China is looking for a well-qualified postdoctoral research associate in the area of Composite Structures, CFD, Structural analysis, Thermal-fluid sciences and machine learning (ML).

Professor. Qian Wu's qualification is B. Eng. and M. Eng. in Gas Turbine, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Ph.D in Mechanics of Composites, National University of Singapore; Postdoctoral in mechanics of composites, Michigan State University, Indiana and Purdue University. He have 8 years working experience in Singapore and 15 years in US, especially on Boeing 747 aircraft engines and Sikorsky S61 helicopter composite blades. In 2008, He was awarded people with extraordinary ability, EB1A, by US federal government and in 2019, A National Class Expert Award by China Government.

Essential requirements:

- PhD degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering, Applied Mathematics, PDE (or equivalent computational sciences)

- Publications in related field like mechanical engineering and Good English proficiency are required.

- Excellent programming skills (the research is often performed in MATLAB/Python; therefore, knowledge of these programming languages is welcome)

- Machine learning experience is valued

- Multiphase flow and heat/mass transfer.

- Programming and algorithm development.

- Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English

- Strong motivation and commitment to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment

- ​Applicants are required to have experience in at least one of the following:

- Mechanics of composite materials, Structural Analysis

- Computational Fluid Dynamics (Aerodynamics)

- Neural network, Machine Learning

- ANSYS, Abacus, MATLAB or Mathematica

- Flutter analysis of turbine blades or airplane wing  

- numerical analysis of heat transfer in porous materials
