PLANT FELLOWS is a international post doc fellowship programme in plant sciences co-funded by the Marie Curie Action COFUND and centrally managed at the Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center, a competence center of three Swiss universities: University of Zurich, University of Basel and ETH Zurich.
This post doc fellowship programme is open to applicants from any nationality and all research fields in plant sciences are eligible. 23 international universities, research institutions and industry partners have been predefined as host organisations.
It is offering more than 60 new post-doc positions with a duration between 12 and 24 months, spread between three different mobility schemes (incoming, outgoing, reintegration).
Additionally, PLANT FELLOWS offers a structured training programme (workshops, dedicated training in complementary skills, industrial placements).
The third call will be open from February 1st 2013 until April 30th 2013 2013 (3months). See: http://www.plantfellows.ch
Research Fields
Biological sciences - Botany
Environmental science - Ecology
Agricultural sciences - Other
Other costs
The PLANT FELLOWS contribution is fixed at 40% of the fellowship costs for eligible researchers. The 60 % own means have to be certificated by the host organisation.
Eligibility criteria
Only experienced researcher can benefit from the PLANT FELLOWS programme. Thus the fellow must, at the time of recruitment be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. Both options need to be verified by certificates, which will be reviewed by the PLANT FELLOWS selection committee.
At the deadline for application submission, the applicant must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (e.g. work, studies) in the country of the host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the application submission.
The transnational mobility shall come under one of the following 3 fellowship schemes: incoming, outgoing or reintegration.
The applicant shall be available for the post within 5 months after receiving the notification of acceptance of application.
Selection process
The selection process will take place within a maximum period of 3 months after closing the respective call.
The week after the application submission deadline, the members of the Programme Office will undertake an eligibility check.
After that, the eligible applications will be sent to two independent scientific experts of either panel: Molecular Biology or panel: Ecology. The scientific experts will mark and rank the application by awarding points on the basis of Relevance, Research & Innovation Quality, Feasibility and Exploitability.
The applications together with the scores and comments are then reviewed by one senior scientific expert. The senior scientific expert will conduct an evaluation report.
The evaluation report will be send to the Programme Office.
The PLANT FELLOWS Programme Office will then inform the applicants about the evaluation outcomes and decision.
If an application raises ethical issues, an additional ethical expert will review it.
