We are looking for a senior IT technologist within the KITS branch. The candidate would be someone who shares our core values of integrity, excellence, respect and creativity.

 

The senior IT technologist will be responsible to facilitate the deployment, management and support of IT infrastructure and to enable manufacturing in the Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC). The CPFC is an NRC business unit with a mandate to fabricate high quality III-V semiconductor based opto- and micro-electronic components for its clients.

 

In addition to the work mentionned above, the selected candidate will represent the CPFC’s interests by indentifying, creating and driving IT project opportunities. These projects will have to be elaborated and deployed with within the framework of KITS, Shared Services Canada(SSC) and the Treasury Board of Canada Secretaria (TBS) guidelines and policies.

Education

Technical College diploma in Computer Science or related field.

 

Bachelor degree in Computer Science may be an asset.

 

A combination of education and direct experience may be considered.

  • Extensive and recent experience in IT

o    Infrastructure management

  • Network
  • Storage (e.g. NAS)
    • Backup (e.g. Veeam)
  • Server
  • Workstation

o    Middleware

  • Operating System administration (Windows)

o    Platforms, as example

  • Database Management Systems (e.g. Sql Server)

  • Significant and recent customer service experience

o    Authoring of technical documentation / SOP’s
o    Integrity and reliability


Note that extensive experience is define by minimum of 5  years’ experience. Recent is defined as experience gained in the last 10 years.

  • Experience in legacy DOS, netware, Windows OS.

Compensation

Rates under review

 

From $89,548 to $112,660 per annum. 

 

An incumbent occupying a position within the CS Group is currently entitled to receive a terminable allowance of $212 per month.
