Post-doc Fellowship in Virology

Updated: about 1 month ago
Deadline: 2024-04-15T00:00:00Z

The PITES Project (Technological Innovation Platform for Health Emergencies) aims to strengthen and accelerate technological innovation platforms at the Instituto Butantan. We expect to build competitive technologies for the development of immunobiological and immunodiagnostic products and allow for rapid responses to emerging viral diseases using SARS-CoV-2 as model. In addition, we intend that these platforms allow for the implementation of in vitro and in vivo robust models, and their validation, to carry out challenge assays. Moreover, these platforms should allow us to, not only better understand the disease pathogenes, as well as to identify new targets for the development of new terapeutic agents. In this context, the implementation of a biobank and the development of a computer system to control storage, identification and reporting of virus samples is extremely important.

Candidates must have experience in virology techniques (virus isolation in cell culture, neutralization tests, immunoenzymatic assays and microscopy), molecular and cellular biology techniques (qPCR, western blot and cytometry). Experience in security laboratory (BSL-2, BSL-3), as well as, knowledge of Python programming language, Java script and applications related to the analysis of genomic data and the development of laboratory processing pipelines, will be considered a positive aspect in the selection process.

The candidate must present initiative and independence in research, in addition to advanced knowledge of the English language (written and spoken), availability to start immediately and to carry out an internship abroad.
