Job Description
We are looking for a full-time PhD student to conduct research in statistics, which should lead to a Ph.D. degree in Statistical Data Analysis. The successful candidate will receive a scholarship for a period of 48 months with starting date no earlier than September 1, 2012. The candidate will be hosted by the statistics research unit within the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science of Ghent University. The research will be conducted under supervision of Prof. Dr. Stefan Van Aelst and co-supervised by Prof. Dr. Dirk Van den Poel. The general research theme is robust and flexible modeling of high dimensional data. The candidate will work in a dynamic environment with researchers of outstanding international level.
Profile
Candidates should hold a Master degree before the starting date of the position and have a strong interest in statistics and mathematics. Candidates preferably have a background in statistics, mathematics or business engineering. Master students in their last year are especially encouraged to apply.
