IWT Post-Doctoral Fellowships, Ghent University

The IWT is a Flemish organisation stimulating and supporting innovation. IWT offers financial support to companies for executing industrial research and development projects; to research institutes for projects in strategic basic research, collective research and technology transfer; and to individual researchers for support in their doctoral and postdoctoral research projects.

IWT Postdoctoral Fellowships focus on research with a strong technology transfer component, and are available to researchers who intend to commercialise their research findings through valorisation agreements with industry or through the creation of a spin-off company.

The program is open to everyone who has a PhD-degree. Researchers from outside Ghent University who wish to apply, first have to find a professor at Ghent University that will accept them as a candidate. You can look for a professor in your research domain through our research directory.

The fellowship lasts for 2 years, and can exceptionally be extended by one extra year.

Applications must give evidence of the researcher’s motivation and interests, and clearly show a focus on valorisation of results through collaboration with an existing company, or through a spin-off. Applications can be submitted in English or in Dutch. Candidates will have to do an oral defence of their project at the IWT, in the language of their application. 

Project costs include the salary costs for the applicant (Postdoc-level) and a fee for project costs.
