The Department of Veterinary Sciences in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences is looking for a full-time doctoral scholarship holder in the field of Mas-related G protein-coupled receptors and their role in visceral hypersensitivity.

Position

  • You will work actively on the preparation and defence of a PhD thesis focussing on the role of Mas-related G protein-coupled receptors in inflammatory gastrointestinal disorders such as IBD and IBS (see also the websites of the Laboratory of Cell Biology & Histology (CBH))

  • You will publish the scientific findings in international journals and you will present these results at international meetings
  • You will carry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks within CBH, such as assistance during practical histology sessions and daily supervision of a masterthesis.

Profile

  • You hold a Master degree in Biomedical Sciences, Veterinary Sciences,  Pharmaceutical sciences or Medicine or you will have obtained it by the time you start work.
  • You can demonstrate excellent study results.
  • You can express yourself in English, both in speaking and writing.
  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision .
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies .
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.

What we offer

  • We offer a doctoral scholarship for an initial period of one year. Following a positive evaluation and provided the required budget is available, the scholarship can be renewed for maximal an additional three years.
  • The planned start date is October 1st , 2021 or as soon as possible after that date.
  • Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for doctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
  • You will do most of your work at Campus Drie Eiken in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
