Regional multi-indicator assessment for livelihood resilience

PhD position in geo-humanitarian action

 

We are recruiting a PhD researcher within the Christian-Doppler Laboratory GEOHUM , a collaborative research lab with Doctors without Borders MSF at the Department of Geoinformatics .

The Department of Geoinformatics is a well-established centre of competence in GIScience within the Faculty of Digital and Analytical Sciences (DAS) at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg , Austria. Learn more about us in this video .

 

Topics for your PhD:

  • Develop a reproducible multi-indicator approach for integrated geospatial assessment of regional climate change adaptation
  • Explore data quality and uncertainty in modelling hydro-social and livelihood resilience
  • Design multi-hazard analyses to support humanitarian operations

Skills/Qualifications

Your profile:

  • MSc degree in geoinformatics, remote sensing, geography or related fields
  • Background in hydrology or climatology is an asset
  • Experience in indicator development
  • Basic programming skills (Python, R)
  • Interest in scientific work and publishing
  • Excellent communication skills, proficiency in English language

  • PhD position: up to 75% employment (30 hours/week)
  • Initial contract: duration is 24 months, with an option for extension
  • Remuneration according to the Austrian University collective bargaining agreement (full-time gross salary per month min. € 3.578,80 (14 × per year, B1) based on 40 hours per week)
