The scholarship was initiated in 1996 and is provided by the BT Financial Group in honour of the late Victor Raeburn, a respected employee of the BT Group. Victor died very suddenly at the age of 38 years at his home in Brighton, Victoria, of an aneurism. The Raeburn family has had a long association with UWA.
The scholarship is to encourage a full-time student who has demonstrated academic achievement to extend them to complete the course leading to a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) or Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in the UWA Business School.
