Rural Grant, Rmit University, Melbourne, Victoria
If you are from a farming background, a Rural Grant can provide up to $5000 towards essential needs such as study materials, computers, living expenses and transport costs.
Value and duration
The grant is a one-off payment of up to $5000.
To be eligible for a Rural Grant, you must:
- be an Australian citizen
- be enrolled full time in an RMIT diploma or degree program in 2013
- have a farming background
- be able to demonstrate financial difficulties
- be moving from a rural/regional area to study at a Melbourne campus.
How to apply
Applications have now closed for 2012.
The 2013 application form will be available in September 2012.
For the 2013 academic year, applications will open on the 3 September 2012.
For the 2013 academic year, applications will close on the 15 November 2012.

Since 1994, an anonymous donor has provided funding to assist students with a farming background to complete their program at RMIT. This support fund recognises the difficulties that students face when coming from a farming family to study in Melbourne.
