Power & Energy Systems (PES) Research Division in the School of ITEE is working in the area of power system stability and condition assessment of critical infrastructure. The group's research is specifically directed at the analysis and prediction of the dynamic behavior of power systems for reliable and secure operations. A significant proportion of the electricity infrastructure in Australia and other countries is aged and requires special attention. Among others, the focus of this group is industry orientated research and aims to deliver next generation condition assessment techniques that comprise accurate modeling and interpretative tools for power transformers, underground cables and other plant assets.
The role
The successful appointee will participate in innovative research developments, conduct original research, provide research input to other staff and students where relevant, participate and/or lead interactions with industry and research collaborators, support in research document preparation on project on 'development of smart power transformers with intelligent monitoring, diagnostic and life management systems' funded by an ARC Linkage Grant being conducted within the PES Research Division.
The person
Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines. You should have a deep understanding of power transformer ageing behaviour and their condition assessment techniques using smart sensors and other modern diagnostic tools. You will need good analytical skills and an understanding of industry solutions and tools.
Remuneration
This is a full-time fixed term appointment for a maximum of 2 years at Research Academic level A or B depending on qualifications and expertise. The remuneration package will be in the range:
Research Academic level A: $55,932 - $75,868 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $65,441 - $88,766 p.a.).
Research Academic level B: $79862 - $94,835 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $93,439 - $110,957 p.a.).
