The School of Biological Sciences is part of the Faculty of Science and provides unique opportunities for study or research in plant and animal biology with international research programs spanning ecology, marine biology, molecular plant sciences and biotechnology, plant and animal physiology, insects and parasite interactions, and genetics & evolution.

The Role

The successful appointee will work as a postdoctoral member of the Marine Genomics Research Unit, which is currently comprised on two Chief Investigators and a varying number of postdoctoral scientists, PhD, MPhil and Honours students, and research assistants and technicians. The person will have access to research resources awarded to and housed within this unit, and be encouraged to apply for his/her own research funding. There are opportunities to be part of international research teams, to address individually and collaboratively-developed research questions, and to co-supervise Honours, masters and doctoral students.

The Person

Applicants should possess a PhD in the fields of evolutionary developmental biology or genomics. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career through the development, implementation, analysis and communication of high-quality basic research program in collaboration with members of the Marine Genomics Research Unit and other cognate research units in Australia and overseas.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 5 years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $70,676 - $75,867 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total
