The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB) combines the disciplines of Chemistry, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Parasitology into a single academic unit. The School has modern research laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment and research infrastructure. The School includes over 50 academic staff who are widely published internationally and have extensive research backgrounds.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work in the laboratory of Professor Istvan Toth under direct supervision of Dr Mariusz Skwarczynski. The team uses nanotechnology approaches to develop therapeutical vaccine against cervical cancer. For the Postdoctoral Research Fellow, the main area of study will involve synthesis of peptide antigens, its conjugation to polymer carrier by "click" reaction, self-assemble and detailed characterization of constructs. In addition, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow might be involved in toxicological and immunological evaluation of produced nanoparticles.
The project is funded by a National Health and Medical Research Council grant and will be conducted in close collaboration with Professor Nigel MacMillan (Diamantina Institute) and Professor Michael Monteiro (Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology).
