The School of Psychology, University of Queensland is seeking applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow to carry out research on social-cognitive development in infancy and early childhood. The School is internationally recognised for its research strengths across the breadth of psychology and supports the Early Cognitive Development Centre, a purpose-built facility for testing and working with infants and young children (see http://www.psy.uq.edu.au/research/ecdc/).
The appointee will be responsible for conducting research in collaboration with Professor Virginia Slaughter, who will be Head of Psychology from 2013. Professor Slaughter seeks an established junior researcher to (a) help her maintain an ongoing research program in social-cognitive development and (b) develop new collaborative projects. The start date for the position is February 2013 and the initial duration is 3 years (with opportunity for extension to a total of 5 years).
The position would suit applicants with a background in developmental psychology who have a demonstrated interest in and understanding of social-cognitive development including joint attention and theory of mind. Applicants must have completed a PhD in developmental psychology.
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $55,931 - $75,868 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $65,440 - $88,765 p.a.). Appointees with a PhD will commence at Step 6 of the scale ($70,676 plus 17% employer superannuation).
