The Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) is an integrated multi-disciplinary research institute bringing together the skills of world-class researchers in the areas of bioengineering and nanotechnology. It is home to 19 research groups working at the interface of the biological, chemical and physical science to alleviate current problems in human health and environmental issues.
This project is funded through the ARC Discovery Project scheme and involves a collaboration with a research partner in Germany. The successful candidate will join a team of motivated researchers focused on developing innovative algorithms for determining properties of ionic liquids. In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to the design of algorithms, carrying out calculations, interpretation and presentation of results. You will be required to interface with internal and external collaborators.
Applicants should possess a Doctor of Philosophy in a relevant area and in application of computational chemistry techniques such as quantum chemical methods, molecular dynamics simulations and/or nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations to understand molecular systems. Experience in study of ionic liquids and/or free energy calculations would be an advantage but is not essential.
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for two years at Research Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $55,931 - $75,867 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $65,440 - $88,765 p.a.
