School of Veterinary Science
The School of Veterinary Science is part of the UQ Faculty of Science, based at UQ's Gatton Campus. The School has extensive teaching and research interests across a wide range of fields in veterinary and animal sciences, and works in close collaboration with other Schools, Centres and Institutes at UQ. The position is a half-time, 3 year appointment in the School's companion animal parasitology group. This group has a focus on public health significance and drug resistance in parasites of dogs, cats and horses. It has strong links with industry and other research providers including CSIRO.
The successful appointee will perform research related to drug resistance and parasitic diseases of horses, dogs and cats. He or she will conduct and supervise project work and assist in the management of significant aspects of the group's research program. They will also supervise higher degree research students and disseminate research results.
Applicants should possess a PhD in veterinary parasitology or a related field. He or she should have knowledge of the equine industry, and the management of horses, dogs and cats. Experience in handling these species would be advantageous. You should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in veterinary parasitology, good general research skills, good communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary research environment
This is a half-time, fixed term appointment for three years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $67,958 - $72,949 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $79,511 - $85,351 p.a.).
