Macquarie University International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (Iprs)
The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) program is funded by the Australian Government, Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR). The main objectives of the IPRS program are to attract and enable top quality international postgraduate students to undertake a postgraduate research qualification in Australia and gain experience with leading Australian researchers in areas of research strength in Australian tertiary institutions, supporting Australia’s research effort.
These awards cover tuition fees for a period of two years for a Masters by research degree or three years for a Doctorate by research degree, as well as health cover costs for scholarship holders, and their dependants. PhD applicants may be eligible to apply for a 6 month extension of award.Awards:
Additionally, all successful IPRS applicants will receive a stipend only Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) which provides an annual living allowance of approximately AUD$22,250 (2010 value) for up to 3.5 years for a PhD program.Eligibility:
Applicants must be citizens of countries other than Australia and New Zealand, and must not hold permanent residency of Australia.
The number of available IPRS are limited and there is strong competition each year. To be considered for the IPRS you must qualify to commence a Higher Research Degree (HDR) at Macquarie University in the year for which it is awarded. As a guideline, applicants should hold at least the equivalent of an Australian First Class Honours degree. Other criteria that will be taken into consideration are academic performance, competitive awards, prizes and scholarships, other postgraduate degrees, publications in refereed journals, the presentation of conference papers and relevant industry experience.
Unsuccessful shortlisted IPRS applicants may also be considered for additional International Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (iMQRES) opportunities.HowToApply:
Applicants will need to complete a candidature/scholarship application form and arrange for two academic referee reports to be submitted to the Higher Degree Research Office. Macquarie University will advise the successful applicant of entitlements at the time of scholarship offer.
We strongly recommend that all applicants submit their application and all required documents well before the closing date. Incomplete applications at the scholarship application deadline can not be considered.
