Hunter Melanoma Foundation PhD Scholarship, The University of Newcastle.

The University of Newcastle invites applications for a 3-year, full-time PhD scholarship funded by the Hunter Melanoma Foundation. The successful applicant will be supervised by Dr Nikola Bowden, who is a Research Fellow with the Hunter Medical Research Institute Information Based Medicine and Cancer Research Programs. Dr Bowden’s research investigates the role of DNA repair in melanoma development after excessive sun exposure and in melanoma drug resistance. The goal of our research is to achieve better diagnosis and treatment of melanoma. The successful applicant will be supported by a scholarship for three years of $25,000 per year, with the option to extend by 6 months.

This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from January 1, 2012 until June 30, 2012.

The value of this scholarship is AUD25000 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses and fees. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of up to 3 and a half years.

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: Medical physiology, Medicine - general, Other medical and health sciences or Public health and health services. It is required that your study starts no earlier than January 1, 2012 and no later than August 31, 2012.

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or outstanding academic results.
