Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible applicants must have met the minimum requirement below:

  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin*
  • Have been made an unconditional offer of a place in an ECU Higher Degree by PhD, Integrated PhD research course or Master by Research**

*Applicants will be required to provide evidence of their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status. This would usually take the form of confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status under the common seal of a community organisation. Where exceptional circumstances apply, statutory declarations and other forms of documentation may be considered. Original or certified copies of supporting documentation must be provided.

**If you have submitted an application for course entry and have not yet been issued an offer you can apply for this scholarship and your application will be assessed subject to you receiving an unconditional course offer by the scholarship closing date of the 12th of June 2024.

You are not eligible to apply for these scholarships if any of the below apply:

  • If you do not have principal supervisor endorsement to undertake the proposed research project.
  • If your commencement date for the Doctor of Philosophy is after 1/12/2024.
  • If your commencement period for Masters by Research is after Semester 2, 2024.
