Dylan Alcott Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship provides:

• For full-time enrolled students up to $10,000 per year (up to $5,000 per semester) for up to three years
• For part-time enrolled students up to $5,000 per year (up to $2,500 per semester) for up to six years

Payment of this scholarship is divided per below:

• up to half towards tuition fees, and
• up to half paid directly to the student as a stipend (study/living allowance) each semester

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or permanent humanitarian, temporary protection visa holder, asylum seeker, or an international student
• be able to demonstrate that you have a disability, long-term medical or neurodiverse condition which impacts your ability to study
• be under the age of 26 at the time of application
• be enrolling full-time or part-time in semester 2 2024 in an associate or bachelor's degree at RMIT University
• be able to demonstrate circumstance/s which impact your ability to study such as:
  • receiving a government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
  • experiencing personal/family/social difficulties
  • be from an interstate or rural/regional area and moving/moved to Melbourne to study at RMIT
  • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state
  • be from an under-represented background such as
    • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
    • were born overseas, are from a non-English background and recently permanently migrated to Australia
    • current or former refugee
    • completed secondary school at a School Network Access Program school
• be residing in Australia

Specific terms and conditions for successful recipients includes:

• will need to obtain the Dylan Alcott Foundation’s (DAF) prior written approval for any public communication in connection with the scholarship or any other communication that makes use of the DAF’s name or logo
• must understand that DAF may produce public communication in connection with the scholarship. The recipient/s provides DAF an irrevocable, royalty free license to use and reproduce the recipient’s image and story solely for the purpose of DAF’s internal and external communications regarding the scholarship
• understand that you will be invited to represent DAF in media surrounding the scholarship and the educational opportunities that have been provided
• understand that scholarship continuation each semester is subject to passing all courses each semester (except with demonstrated extenuating circumstances, e.g., significant exacerbation of an existing condition)
• understand you will be offered support by RMIT’s Equitable Learning Service to assist you with your academic success.

Through sport, education, mentorship, and disability advocacy, The Dylan Alcott Foundation  seeks to empower young Australians living with disability to chase their dreams and break down barriers that might be in their way. 

The Dylan Alcott Foundation believes in equal opportunities for all individuals, especially the chance to complete a tertiary education and have partnered with RMIT University to create these scholarships. Each recipient per year will receive up to $5,000 for a study/living allowance from RMIT as well as up to $5,000 towards course fees from the Foundation.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.
