The Centre for Research in Educational Futures and Innovation (CREFI), one of Australia’s most dynamic research centres in Education, is currently inviting outstanding candidates to apply for a PhD scholarship at Deakin University. Specifically, CREFI requires a candidate to work on a new Australian Research Project, ‘Leadership in Entrepreneurial Universities: Cross-national investigations of engagement and diversity’, lead by Professor Jill Blackmore. The candidate must have a research degree (honours or M.A.) and/or demonstrate a scholarly interest in the areas of Higher education and equity. The scholarship will provide the candidate with:

  • National and international travel: for conference attendance/presentation and according to the project’s research plan.
  • The highest level supervision.
  • Opportunities to network with international academics in the field.
  • Office space and an inclusive study environment.

Candidates can also apply for mid-year Deakin University scholarships by 30th June, 2011. Specifically, CREFI requires candidates with research interest in areas of strategic importance to the
centre:

  • Science, mathematics, environmental and health education for sustainable communities • Pedagogy, cultures and professional engagement
  • Governance, policy and educational leadership in local and global contexts
  • Rural and regional education communities
  • Internationalisation, inclusivity and knowledge work
  • Professional learning practice and ethics

The Centre's research programs share a common purpose, which is to investigate and provide innovative research and policy in national priority areas. Its research aims to promote social inclusion and professional learning, as well as to inform workforce planning in order to develop world-class education systems.

Australian Scholarship holders should hold a first class Honours degree or equivalent and must be Australian citizens or permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.
