Our Undergraduate Vacation Studentships are run over the Australian summer holidays and offer high achieving and promising undergraduate students the opportunity to collaborate with CSIRO researchers in our world class facilities.
Students will have the chance to work on a real project in science, technology or a related field such as science communication. Placements are or 8-12 weeks during the summer vacation period.
Participation in the Vacation Studentship Program has influenced countless students in their choice of further study and future career options. Many have gone on to pursue a PhD and/or built a successful research career; either within CSIRO, universities, or industry.
Business and Infrastructure Services (CBIS) provides a wide range of property, site and infrastructure services that enables CSIRO to operate efficiently, effectively and sustainably.
In keeping with CSIRO's Property Strategy, CBIS manages the provision, operation and maintenance of CSIRO's properties including more than 880 buildings across 48 Australian sites. CBIS works closely with other enterprise support services to help enable CSIRO be the 'Innovation Catalyst'. The projects for these placements are within the Sustainability Team which leads the implementation of CSIRO’s Sustainability Strategy 2020-2030 .

Location: Various (refer to the project list above for specific details)
Stipend: $1,915.90 per fortnight
Duration: Placements are for 8 to 12 weeks between November 2024 and February 2025.

To be considered you will need
- To be enrolled in an undergraduate degree at an Australian university.
- Have completed 3 years (full-time equivalent) of an undergraduate course, however exceptional second-year students may be considered.
- A strong academic record (credit average or higher).
- An interest in pursuing a research career in science or technology, or a career in a related discipline.
- The ability to undertake a full-time placement for 8-12 weeks over the university summer vacation period.
Eligibility
Applications for these studentships are open to: Australian and New Zealand Citizens; Australian Permanent Residents; and International students who have full work rights for the duration of the placement (do not require visa sponsorship).
Appointment to this role may be subject to conditions including provision of a national police check as well as other security/medical/character clearance requirements.
