Coordinator - Masters of Conservation Biology
Faculty of Science
Acad Teach Focussed Level B ($81,857.70 - $97,205.75)
Full Time - Fixed Term
The School of Biological Sciences is one of the largest and most successful of its type in Australia. The School has broad expertise across ecology and evolution, molecular and quantitative genetics, paleobiology, developmental biology, behaviour, plant and animal physiology, and conservation biology. Unique opportunities for biological research and study are provided by our proximity to a stunning array of marine and terrestrial subtropical habitats and their endemic biodiversity.
The School is currently developing a new Masters Coursework program in Conservation Biology. This internationally-oriented program will cover the integrative disciplines of conservation, ecology and biodiversity all within a 12 month timetable. The Masters aims to equip students with practical training in conservation biology, which will include course-based trips to some of Australia's unique field sites
The School is seeking to make the appointment of Coordinator for this new Masters program. This is a teaching-focused position and the appointee will play a key role in the development and delivery of the School's Postgraduate Coursework Masters program in Conservation Biology and provide guidance and pastoral care to that cohort of students.
Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant biological sciences discipline, with preference given to applicants with expertise in the field of conservation ecology. The successful appointee will have documented teaching experience in a variety of settings, including extensive field teaching, and also experience in the pastoral care of a cohort of students. A track record of establishing effective relationships with external bodies, including government and industry is essential, as is the ability to promote the new program to the wider community.
This is a full-time, three year fixed term appointment at Academic level B. The remuneration package will be in the range $76,789 to $91,187 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $89,843 - $106,689 p.a.).
