Description: The BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina Engineering Scholarship is being offered by BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina to four students from the South West of Western Australia who are interested in pursuing a career in Engineering. The scholarship will be available to a student enrolled full time at Curtin University undertaking their first year of an undergraduate Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or Mining engineering degree.
Presently the Alumina Refinery employs more than 1200 people and has been producing alumina since April 1984. To complement their present community involvement, Worsley are offering four scholarships to reward students from South West schools who have achieved academically throughout their high school studies.
BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina run a mine site and refinery in the South West of Western Australia and focus on providing opportunities to local residents.

Applicants must meet ALL of following criteria to be considered for a BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina Engineering Scholarship:

Have attended a South West high school in 2010 or 2011

Have selected Curtin University as a first preference through TISC to undertake an eligible undergraduate Engineering Degree

Be undertaking their first semester of their first undergraduate Degree at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2012

Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or the holder of an Australian Permanent Resident visa

Be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported place

Value: The Scholarship consists of a $5,000 cash payment per year to assist with costs associated with studying (textbooks, incidental expenses etc). The scholarship is offered for a maximum of 4 years.
Successful recipients may also have the opportunity for work experience over the holidays.
