Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People
The following scholarships are specifically for Australian Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or South Sea Islander students. These students are also encouraged to consider scholarships listed by study area.
Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship Program
The Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship Program will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to gain qualifications at JCU and provide employment pathways. It comprises two scholarship types, The Arrow Energy Resource Sector Indigenous Scholarship and The Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship. Information Sheet
Open to: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students enrolling at JCU.
Value: $10,000 each

Australian South Sea Islander Community Foundation
Open to: students who identify as Australian South Sea Islanders as defined in the 2000 Queensland Government Recognition Statement of the Australian South Sea islander Community.Value: $5,000 per year (full-time students) or $2,500 per year (part-time students)Closing Date: Early February each year.

Commonwealth Scholarships for Indigenous students
Open to: Indigenous students who undertake an undergraduate course of study or a Tertiary Access Course at JCU. The Commonwealth Scholarships (CS) Program aims to assist Indigenous students have better access to and increased participation in higher education. Students need to apply to JCU directly.
Value: In 2013 from $1,234 up to $12,067.
Closing Date: 2013 Round 2 - 26 July 2013.
Elizabeth Cookson Memorial Bursary
Open to: students who are Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders or South Sea Islanders who are starting an honours program in any of the following discipline areas: anthropology, history, Indigenous Australian Studies or Literature. The student must investigate an issue of relevance to Aboriginal, Torres Strait or South Sea Islander culture.Closing Date: 15 March each year. Application Form
Faculty of Science & Engineering Indigenous Student Entry Bursaries
Open to: First year full-time domestic Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students of Faculty of Science & Engineering who have received an Overall Position (OP) between 1 and 8 or its equivalent from other Australian States.Value: a standard laptop computer.Closing Date: 31 January 2013. Hugh Alexander Grierson Trust Bursary
Open to: full-time domestic Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students of the University.
Value: $5,000 in money, books, equipment or payment for residential accommodation.Closing Date: 31 December each year Application Form
JCU Access Fund
JCU Access Scholarships and JCU Access Bursaries
Open to: full-time students who are in their first year of study.
Value: $5,000 or $1,500 for one year.
JCU Support Grants
Open to: full-time students who are in their second year of study.
Value: $500 JCU Bookshop credit.

The Wood Scholarship
Open to: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, studying medicine or allied health at James Cook University.
Value: up to $25,000 per annum to be paid quarterly in advance or such amount as the Selection Committee determine from time to time.Closing Date: Friday 12 April 2013. Application Form
Thelma Myers Memorial Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nursing Scholarship [PG]
Open to: students who are registered nurses and who are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
