- The AusIMM Education Endowment Fund (EEF) Scholarships were established to support the future leaders of the minerals industry through their higher education studies. The Scholarships are currently valued at $8,000 per year for a standard EEF scholarship, and $14,000 per year for a Sir Frank Espie/Rio Tinto Leadership Award. As well as receiving financial support over two years, students receive the invaluable benefits of mentoring and networking opportunities with a major minerals company. That is, companies who have made major donations to the Education Endowment Fund are allocated scholarship holders, and are encouraged to engage the student with the industry through vacation work and other initiatives.The most outstanding scholarship winners currently receive a Sir Frank Espie / Rio Tinto Leadership Award, which will entitle them to $14,000 per year. This scholarship was generously endowed by the Espie Family, in memory of Sir Frank Espie. Sir Frank demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, and technical management to the mining industries of Australia and Papua New Guinea, and was a distinguished leading member of The AusIMM.
