School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management
The School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management is part of the Faculty of Science and is located on the St Lucia campus (Brisbane) of the University of Queensland. The School has 37 academic staff, and 19 administrative and technical staff. It is a vibrant, multidisciplinary School with extensive teaching and research programs. The School is now seeking to appoint an Administrative Officer (Research and Scholarships) to provide administrative support for a growing number of research students, manage the School's publication data and associated processes and provide support for research activities. This position will provide an exciting opportunity for someone seeking employment in a busy, high quality team environment.
The role
The successful applicant will provide administrative support for a growing number of research students, manage the School's publication data and associated processes and provide support for research activities. This includes providing administrative support for research higher degree candidates, advising staff and students on program and funding rules, ensuring all publication records are appropriately recorded and that the school adheres to collection deadlines.
The person
To succeed, you will need to have a relevant tertiary qualification, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. A confident communicator, you will be comfortable liaising with a diverse group of students and staff members, and be able to work well both autonomously and in a team. Equally important for this role is your high level of accuracy and attention to detail, together with your interest in developing and improving administrative processes. The successful candidate will display a proactive and positive approach to their work and demonstrate a high level of initiative.
Remuneration
This is a 14-month parental leave replacement at HEW 5 from 15 October 2012 to 20 December 2013. The remuneration package will be in the range $55,987 - $62,705 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $65,504 - $73,364 p.a.).
