Disclaimer Information - This scholarship is offered and administered by our partner, Global Voices. The information and timeline will be updated in accordance with their updates / advice.

Curtin University, in partnership with Global Voices, is offering an exclusive scholarship for a participant to represent Australia and attend the World Food Forum (WFF) this October.

About the World Food Forum

The world currently produces enough food to feed everyone, but in 2023, around 738 million chronically malnourished people went hungry. To provide fresh impetus for a transformed global food system, the United Nations (UN) launched the World Food Forum (WFF) in 2021.

As a youth-led initiative organised by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the Forum brings together the next generation of students, farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs to discuss and enact change – from the global to the local level.

Participants attend workshops, events and roundtable discussions where they can foster connections, engage with industry leaders and gain the tools necessary to address today’s challenges on food insecurity and climate change.

The WFF serves as the premier global forum to harness the passion and power of youth to identify solutions and incite positive action for agrifood systems. It aligns with the 2021 United Nations (UN) Food Systems Summit, acts as a major youth platform in global food governance, and serves as a global think tank that fosters youth-led solutions in innovation, science and technology. The WFF aims to support and grow youth initiatives in the agrifood sector in line with global youth policy recommendations.

The Scholarship Program consists of the following components:

  • Global Voices Policy Fellowship;
  • Online Pre-Canberra Training Session (26 September 2024);
  • Pre-Delegation Briefing Program in Canberra (1 – 3 October 2024); and
  • World Food Forum in Rome, Italy (14 – 18 October 2024)

The successful applicant will participate in the Global Voices Scholarship Program and join youth representatives from around Australia to meet with leaders and experts in policy, sustainable agriculture, climate change issues and food waste.

The Policy Fellowship allows the successful applicant to develop research, analysis, and policy-writing skills through developing a policy paper related to the delegation agenda. This policy paper must include specific recommendations for domestic policy application.

Global Voices is a not-for profit organisation that is committed in nurturing the next generation of Australian leaders by providing practical experience in foreign policy and international relations. Since their establishment in 2011, over three-hundred young people have been supported by Global Voices to attend over fifty international summits to represent Australia.
