About this scholarship

The Business Innovation Scholarship has been developed by Curtin University to encourage and support students who have chosen to study in the field of business information systems.

This Scholarship is part of Curtin University’s commitment to innovation and excellence in teaching and research, for the benefit of our students and the wider community. Curtin University is renowned for innovation and academic excellence that ultimately benefits the wider community.

Students applying for this scholarship are required to show insight and creative ideas in relation to their future profession and demonstrate a strong understanding of their chosen course of study.

The Business Innovation Scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of three years (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):

  • A total value of up to $9,000, paid as an instalment of $1,500 towards the cost of student tuition fees each semester

Please note:

  • The scholarship will be paid directly to the student tuition fee account prior to the census date for each enrolled semester
  • This scholarship only covers part payment of tuition fees. Recipients are required to pay the balance of any outstanding tuition fees and the student services amenities fees (SSAF) each semester


Scholarship Details

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Business Information Systems) 
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Business Information Systems Extension)

Any of the above listed degrees as part of a double major/degree may be considered. However, the scholarship benefit is capped at a maximum of three years.


Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Business Innovation Scholarship:

  • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
  • Selected Curtin University as a first preference through TISC or apply direct to Curtin to undertake an eligible business degree and major in 2024
  • Receive a course offer into an eligible undergraduate degree at Curtin University in 2024
  • Will enrol full-time (100 credits per study period) at Curtin University


Application process

Step 1: Access online application form

  • Applications are to be submitted using the online application form. Access the form by clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found under the Applying for scholarships link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account, once your application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Receipt of an offer of a place into an eligible undergraduate degree at Curtin University in 2024
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Demonstrated academic potential

Step 6: Outcome

  • Outcome will be sent via the email address listed through TISC or your direct Curtin course application after main round course offers (all successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified)

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants (including those who wish to defer their studies) must return acceptance documents by the deadline stipulated in the terms and conditions
  • Deferral of this scholarship is permitted (details included in scholarship terms and conditions)

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit
  • Scholarship is not transferable to another courses or university


Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Remain enrolled in eligible course and major of study
  • Maintain a full-time study load of at least 100 credits each semester at Curtin University
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 70 each semester
  • Pass all enrolled units each semester
