Summary of Duties:

The Instruction and Classroom Support Technician will provide technology support for classrooms, advise upon and troubleshoot equipment, assist with teaching session recordings and provide Tier 1 helpdesk support for the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine.

Duties and Responsibilities:

60% Classroom and Event Support

Act as primary support of medical education classrooms, advise on the use of classroom equipment for various methods of instructional delivery, and provide technical support during instructional sessions to students and faculty.


Operate and perform routine maintenance and/or troubleshooting on classroom equipment; instruct students, staff, and faculty in the use of classroom equipment; monitor classrooms to ensure compliance with established protocol; propose and monitor classroom equipment procedures.


Perform video-lecture creation, editing, and posting to the learning management system. Confer with instructors in establishing and developing assignments; create and manage assignments as needed in the learning management system.


Estimate quantity and quality of supplies and materials needed for instructional sessions; follow through with purchasing department or procurement of supplies; maintain adequate stock levels.

15% Learning Session Resources Uploading/Auditing Support

Work with faculty to receive session resources in a timely manner.
Edit or modify session materials to meet established criteria; advise team of potential problems with new and existing content; upload content into learning platforms ahead of sessions. 

10% Process and Upload Recordings

Schedule and perform video-lecture creation, editing, and posting to the learning management system.


Responsible for maintaining the video library and ensure the appropriate faculty, staff, and students have access to the correct videos. 

10% Tier 1 Helpdesk Support

Receive technical support work requests from end users via telephone, Slack, email messages, or in person. Monitor and respond to requests for a broad range of technology issues such as troubleshooting hardware and software issues either at the location or through remote access.


Escalate and route complex problems to higher experts as needed. Keep faculty, staff, and students apprised of support delays and expected time-to-solution.

5% Other

Perform other related work as required 


Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree with major study in specific instructional area; or equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to work independently and as a team player. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Flipped classroom and/or instruction design experience or equivalent experience. 

  • Experience with learning management system(s) or online learning platforms and/or equivalent education/experience. 

  • Experience with medical education applications and familiarity with medical school curriculum and/or equivalent education/experience.
