Job Description:

Institutional Planning and Research is responsible for preparing longitudinal information and management reports related to the university workforce, including demographic characteristics, faculty promotion and tenure, effort reporting, salaries, evaluation, and other personnel areas. The University is committed to accurate and timely collection of data on academic personnel and activities, like course instructors and contact hours. Additional reports and analyses are performed for other employee categories and characteristics. This position works with faculty, administrators, and technical staff across the university to prepare institutional responses to internal and external queries.

Oversees the university-wide collection of essential information about the amount of time that personnel spend on instruction, research, and service. This information is important to planning studies on instructional staffing and costs. This information is also collected for the specific compliance requirements of the state of Florida 12 Hour Law and Federal research effort reporting. This position oversees the deployment and completion of Academic Activities Reporting (AAR) completed campus-wide by all units offering courses. The AAR system is used to collect information on the Effort Tracking system. The position is responsible for data collection, editing, support and training of departmental staff providing data, and managing the certification process for departments. The position is also responsible for the creation and timely submission of files to support the two major applications – the Board of Governors Instruction and Research file and OMB A-21 reporting. 

Plans, develops, deploys and maintains computer programs to support a variety of data collection and reporting applications concerning faculty and employee characteristics, salaries, diversity, advancement, and other issues. Works collaboratively with other staff in IPR, technical staff from UFIT, and administrators from a variety of offices in designing solutions to meet related data needs. 

Creates, maintains and coordinates distribution of application and data base documentation/data dictionaries to support effective use of data for decision-making, planning, and operational purposes. Creates, updates, and deploys effective training materials for the activity reporting system.

Creates reports and analyses summarizing data on faculty and employee characteristics, salaries, diversity, advancement, and other issues.  Responds to internal and external queries for university information.

Participates in the design and redesign of application systems as required for the evolution of the university’s administrative systems.

Performs related work as assigned

Expected Salary:

$75,000; commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced programming skills – SAS, SQL, SPSS preferred.  PeopleSoft system experience highly desired.
