Job Summary
 

The Work Study Student will work in the main office of the School of Earth, Environment & Sustainability as an Office Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Spring 2024.

The Student Assistant will greet visitors, answer phones, monitor and respond emails, and assist the administrative coordinator and faculty with various administrative tasks such as copying, filing, and other tasks, as required. The student assistant is expected to keep all office information confidential and to maintain security of all office documents. The student assistant should have well-developed communication and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. 
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities
 
  • Answers phones and monitors/responds to emails
  • Greets and screens visitors to the office
  • Maintains various excel and Google sheets databases
  • Helps faculty with photocopying or other office-related tasks, as requested
  • Assists student lab technicians with maintaining and stocking geology laboratories

Shift Specifics

  • Up to 20 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability
  • Shifts available Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM

Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Must be Federal Work eligible.

Preferred Qualifications
 

Preferred Education

  • Enrolled in a College of Science and Math degree program

Preferred Experience

  • Working knowledge of Excel, all Google applications, Photoshop, and standard social media platforms.

Proposed Salary
 

$10.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
