Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid works to ensure that qualified students have the opportunity to study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill regardless of their ability to pay. The office serves students at all levels, including graduate and professional school students and coordinates all student financial support for the campus. The office assists in the recruitment, retention and success of students while maximizing available funds, exercising good stewardship of those funds, and performing related research, analysis and program evaluation in support of long-range enrollment and campus goals. In addition, the office provides academic and co-circular support services for scholarships, provides financial literacy and educational tools, and partners with faculty and other student success areas across campus to provide excellent service to low- and middle-income students and other scholarship recipients. The work of the office is public in nature and closely scrutinized by students and their families, lawmakers, faculty and staff at the University, and by the media (local, regional, and national).
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. 
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks innovative, energetic, and accomplished candidates for the position of Work Study Coordinator in the office of Scholarships and Student Aid. This position will assist the Senior Accountant and Work Study Assistant Director in managing the financial accounting process for the work study program for the University. The Work Study Coordinator will have significant reporting responsibilities for the work study program such as tracking earnings and awards and ensuring transactions are appropriate. This position is responsible for ensuring employer match amounts are accurate and collaborating with campus departments in adjusting accounts as needed. 
The Work Study Coordinator will be responsible for processing invoices, payments, and reimbursements for the university’s off-campus and non-profit partners and providing timely reporting. The Coordinator will also assist with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices is required. The person must have knowledge of computer techniques in accounting functions; must have organizational skills; must be highly motivated and able to work independently; and must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience working with PeopleSoft preferred.
